Uniform Policy

At Meole Brace School, we believe that wearing school uniform with pride helps foster a strong sense of identity, belonging and high standards across our school community. We ask for the support of all parents and carers in ensuring that students arrive at school correctly dressed and ready to learn.
Branded Uniform Items (Compulsory)

The following items must be the official Meole Brace School branded versions:

  • School tie
  • School jumper
  • School skirt (where applicable)

These items should be purchased through the school's approved supplier.

Generic Uniform Items

To help reduce costs for families, all other uniform items may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet the school's colour and style requirements, including:

  • White school shirt
  • Grey school trousers
  • Tailored grey school shorts
  • School shoes that comply with the footwear policy
  • School coats and outdoor wear (not hooded sweatshirts)

Items should be smart, practical and appropriate for school.

Jewellery

Students may wear:

  • Two small stud earrings per ear (no hoops)
  • A watch

No other visible jewellery is permitted. This includes facial piercings, fabric wristbands or ankle bands (with the exception of one charity band).

Please note that during PE lessons, clubs and fixtures, all piercings must be removed in line with Association for Physical Education guidance. Taping over piercings is not permitted.

Makeup and Nails

Students should not wear obvious makeup, false eyelashes, false nails or nail polish. Students will be asked to remove these if worn to school.

The following are not permitted:

  • Shoes with visible logos or branding
  • Fabric shoes
  • High-heeled shoes

Leather ankle boots may only be worn where they meet school expectations.
Hair

Hair should be neat and of a natural colour. Extreme hairstyles and unnatural colours are not permitted. Long hair should be tied back in PE, Science and Design Technology lessons for health and safety reasons.

Students should bring a suitable coat for outdoor use during colder weather.

Hoodies (with or without a zip) are not part of the school uniform and should not be worn in school.

PE Kit

We are committed to keeping PE participation accessible and affordable for all families. Therefore, only one item of PE kit is required to be school branded.

All students must wear:

This is the only compulsory branded PE item and should be purchased through the school's approved supplier www.schooldirect.com

All other PE kit items may be either school branded or generic sportswear, provided they are suitable for PE and are royal blue in colour.

Uniform Purchase Financial Assistance

The school can provide financial support for families eligible for Free School Meals towards the purchase of compulsory school uniform and PE kit, subject to the school's current assistance arrangements. Further details can be obtained by contacting the school office.
Supporting Affordable Uniform

  • School tie
